In September 2007 the gang went to the 1RTR reunion held at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough. Mark, Pam and Bernard stayed at the Grand Hotel while Michelle Wayne and I stayed at a cottage just outside Scarborough in-between Whitby and Scarborough. It was a quaint old cottage with an old fashioned coal fire which was lovely and warm and it seemed to warm the whole cottage up-stairs and down. The night the photo was taken we had gone to Whitby for the day and had eaten at the famous Magpies restaurant, it seems that Rick Stein featured in the restaurant in one of his cooking programs on TV. But Magpies was famous for its fish and chips and we had booked to eat in it. We all ordered fish and chips all that is except for Wayne, there was steak on the menu and that was it. He loved his steak and would eat it whenever the opportunity arose. Our fish , chips and mushy peas arrived, the fish were much larger than the plate they were served on and they were large plates and along came Wayne's steak, cooked as he likes it, well done ( why I will never understand), how can anyone eat a steak when it is overcooked. Certainly would have no chance of winning Master Chef that's for sure. But there we were four ageing middle aged men, one who was closing in on his State pension,playing like a gang of kids, out on a cold chilly night at Whitby harbour. We had a great time together but sadly he won't be going again with us but he will be with us in our hearts always.
